Spring has come and rice planting will be starting soon. I hope it’ll be blessed with good weather and give a lot of rice in autumn.

Well, as for “The boughs that bear most hang lowest”…, this means that a man of virtue becomes more modest. It’s a lesson for us that even if we acquire a high status, we should remain humble. That’s true that many people start showing their ego (arrogance) when they acquire a higher status, isn’t it? It seems that the more knowledge the people get, they become to want to show it off more. However what we need is the “humbleness” for today, I think.

The humble person is the one who “knows that he/she doesn’t know anything” (wisdom to realize your own, by Socrates). We seem to know a lot of things about this world but we actually don’t. The reason why the world exists, what’s in the end of the universe, why we are born and so on… There are so many things that we don’t know. When we explore the questions, we sometimes find out the scheme of things, also get to know about the past masters in the world.

For example, as we can see in the world of chess that when we are children we don’t know how strong the professionals are in a clear manner…However when we grow up and become to know more things, we become to get to know about the other people, too. How good he is or he’s incomparable…and so on.

In the case of 100 meters, we know how hard it is for us to achieve the time of less than 10 seconds, especially when we actually try. Suppose that you have a race with Usain Bolt (world record holder), you would obviously know it. Yes, when we play in the same game (at work as well), we will understand how great the other person is.

When we are children, we believed many things would be easy to do. But when we become adults, we find out our limitations… But we usually don’t want to accept it because we feel too ashamed. So it’s no wonder that only the excuses (complains) increase. When we only make excuses, we stop learning.
We have to accept that we actually don’t know a lot of things. About yourself, the others, families, you seem to know it well but actually you don’t. About radiation, agriculture and, of course, nature (earth=our planet). But when we become aware that we don’t know anything…we may start learning about knowing the things…? So the more you do (you know), I think, people can become humbler like the phrase. So we will become able to feel the real richness (fulfillment=appreciation), I believe.
