Part 44 “Bond”

There is a phrase “Even a chance meeting is due to fate”….There is a place near my work where many young women come to pray to God for a chance to find a good man. It’s Tokyo Daijingu (a small shinto shrine) and is located five minutes by foot from JR Iidabashi station.

Most of the visitors to the shrine are women because it has became known as a shrine which is home of the god of marriage after it was introduced in a women’s magazine. Now it’s very popular place.

I wonder if making a wish to a God really works or not. Every time I pass the shrine I think of how many people actually received good luck and could find someone nice…Successful people often say “I had much luck with relationships”. So, I can figure out an equation of “bond”=”luck”.

However, as for this “bond”, I wonder if only by asking a God, can we receive luck with the “bond”…? If my luck (=bond) can be increased just by asking a God, I would do it every day, and say such as “Oh, God, can you change this situation please?” But I know that there are still many people who in fact don’t have luck. So I have to wonder if wishing to a God, actually works. I would come to doubt that a God could help.

However, when I met someone who was able to talk with a God (?) in the past, he said as below. “One day a God said I’m sick of listening to the humans’ wishes. Everyone only has a wish for themselves. Why can’t they appreciate their life and just say thank you? That’s why, they don’t receive any luck’”. I’m not sure if it was true or not but I can say that being a God must be hard, mustn’t it?

If only we are asked favors, we would be bored, too. I wonder if the secret to getting good luck is that you don’t go to shrine etc to make your wish…
However, if you want to meet someone nice, you would need to take action. So in this way, going out to a shrine etc could be a good chance though.
Anyway, this kind of activity (wishing for luck) is always popular no matter what age we are. Also, I understand that the more the world becomes unstable, the more we feel like relying on gods….
