Do you know the word of “Hakuin”?
It’s actually a name of a Buddhist monk who is quite famous in the world of zen. Ekaku Hakuin (白隠慧鶴) was called Chuko no So (father of restoration) of the Rinzai sect in the middle of the Edo era.
Rinzai sect was originally founded by a person called Rinzai. Then Hakuin revived Rinzai school in the Edo era. That’s why he is called the Chuko no So (father of restoration). For a little more information, shogun (general) at the time when Hakuin was born was Tsunayoshi Tokugawa who was well known as the person who implemented the edict forbidding [against] cruelties to living things.

Well, the reason why I’m talking about Hakuin is that I want to talk about the “neutrino” which became a hot topic a while ago… Some people may think “what’s the neutrino”? However I’m not going to explain it in detail here. It’s really a small substance. For example, I can say that it’s something like radiation which is too small to be visible. This Mr. Neutrio has achieved to be on the top page of news papers with a national circulation (Yomiuri newspaper morning edition on 24th September last year). It’s actually a great thing. So, according to the newspaper…the title was that “Observed neutrino which travels faster than light”.

Until this point, it was said that there was nothing which travels faster than light. If it’s true, it may shatter the thesis of Einstein which promotes “light is the fastest in the universe”. If it travels faster than light and then what happens is that the time goes backward. Yes, it means going back to the past. Something which we watch on a movie could happen in a real world…Well, it sounds great. If the time is going backward, for example, when we leave Tokyo at 10 o’clock, we can get to Osaka at 9:59, one minute before.

When we think about it carefully, we find that it means the result happens ahead of the cause. It is common knowledge that the result follows the cause, isn’t it? So if you don’t plant seeds (=cause), you wouldn’t be able to see the flowers.

Anyway, as for the reason why this Mr. Neutrino has something to do with “Hakuin, the Buddist monk”, is because there is a sentence as below in the “Zazen Wasan座禅和讃” which Hakuin wrote.
“Inga ichi nyo no mon hirake. Muni musan no michi naoshi (因果一如の門ひらけ 無二無三の道直し)”

ひかりの国プロジェクト

“Inga ichi nyo no mon hirake (opens the gate of the oneness of cause and effect / 因果一如の門ひらけ)” and means that there is a world where the cause and effect exists at the same time. So it’s possible to say that there is a possibility that the result goes ahead of the cause, I suppose. Hakuin who lived in the Edo era seems to have indicated about something like neutrino with which the result goes ahead of the cause.

Anyway, our mind (thoughts) can freely travel to the past. So, assume if our mind is a substance, it could go back to our past like Mr. Neutorino and stop us from making mistakes or save us from the natural disasters before they happen, couldn’t it?
