his story about the five senses and it is going to be a series. Because it’s an important part, I’d like to explain it over a few times.
The reason is because it’s important as this is a story which relates to our mind.
All right, let’s get start it…………..
By the way, what are the five senses?
They are the touch, taste, hearing, eyesight and smell. We get to know things through the each of our senses. Our mind (心) gets to know things through these five (五) senses (入り口). So we can achieve enlightenment (悟) through these five (五) senses (入り口). Enlightenment (悟) is actually the awareness in our mind (心).
One may say that we know that already……but many people often aren’t actually aware of this simple thing. Or rather it’s too simple to be aware of. Some people may say that I don’t have to talk about such a thing over a few times. However please be patient and follow the story.
As for these five senses, each of them is detectable through it’s own sensory organ. These are the below:
First of all, “seeing”, we can see the world through the “eyes” which is one of our organs of sense in our body.
“Hearing” is through our “ears” and we can enjoy conversations and music and so on. We use our “mouths” for “tasting” and to enjoy food. We use our “noses” for “smelling” As for “touching”, I think that most of us use our “hands”
Here, I have a question for you.
What is a common thing for these five senses (eye, ear, mouth, nose and hand)?
It’s a condition that they must be…..
Please give me a simple answer.
It’s easy if you look closely at your body.
For the people who can’t find an answer, here is a hint. I’m going to the toilet………
What????????(The answer will be in a next part)
